MICHAEL JACKSON and ELVIS PRESLEY . . . And Their Secret Link In Hawaii !!!

“The King of Pop” and “The King of Rock and Roll” ! . . . . . . . . .
The ONLY True American Kings we have ever known were TWO WONDERFUL KIND SOULS THAT WERE EVER-GIVING AND ARE EVERLASTING IN THEIR LEGACIES AND WHAT THEY DID FOR OTHERS. However, it seems that they were (in some people’s eyes, especially the younger generations) something like “ages” away from each other. Or, you will hear the occasional “they lived in different times from one another” . . . and in a way, I guess they would be correct if they were referring to their “career lives” (technically, they were both on this earth for approximately 20 years together, or at the same time). HOWEVER, VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW OF ONE LITTLE SECRET ABOUT THESE TWO KINGS . . . THAT KEEPS ITSELF HIDDEN (although the secret itself might not be hiding) AN OCEAN AWAY ON A TROPICAL ISLAND CALLED OAHU !!!
OK! For those of you who are geographical experts, or at the very least have a Middle School Education, you should recognize that THE ISLAND CALLED “OAHU” IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE EIGHT MAIN ISLANDS (in a long sequence of islands) THAT MAKE UP THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS . . . Better Known As “Our 50th State”! So, What is the “Secret Link” that the Two Kings share? It’s actually a person . . . ONE THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY MET MANY TIMES! . . . A person called “Uncle”!!! So, I will do my best to “Spill The Beans” for you (however, if you live in Hawaii, you probably already know what I’m talking about). Here We Go . . .

On March 25th, 1961, Elvis Presley arrived in Hawaii to give a benefit concert to help fund the building of what is now “The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial” in Pearl Harbor. It is the white structure that lays across the top of the now submerged U.S.S. Arizona which is visited everyday by thousands of tourists to honor those men who died in the December 7th, 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor. When Elvis arrived, he was met right off of the plane by a local Radio Deejay named Tom Moffatt (who got to know Elvis very well over his many visits to Hawaii). Over the years and because he was so good at it, Tom began to promote events as well. He eventually grew into Hawaii’s Number One Promoter who had seperated himself so far from the rest of the pack, those of us who knew him (as I am PROUD to say that I do) and those of us in the entertainment business (again, PROUD to say I was part of) began to refer to him as “Hawaii’s ONLY Promoter”!
Therefore, with so much POWER and Resources at his fingertips (again, especially working so much with Elvis and just knowing him), we all knew that if anybody could get Michael to Hawaii, it was the man we all called “Uncle Tom”! As talk spread that Michael was returning home to LA to rest from his First Leg of The HISTORY Tour (there were two legs seperated by a few months) from Japan (where he was performing just after coming off tour dates in Australia and Europe. And remember, Japan is very close to Hawaii and tourists from Japan make up a HUGE chunk of the tourist industry in Hawaii), the phones starting ringing to and from “Uncle Tom’s” Office. “What would it hurt for Michael to pick up a few more MILLION on his way home” was just one of the arguments (by some of his Hawaii Fans) to try to get Tom Moffatt to work his Magic. Whatever happened in the interim, I really don’t know. However, what I do know is that . . . FOR THE SECOND TIME IN HIS LIFE, “UNCLE” TOM MOFFATT WOULD WELCOME A KING TO HAWAII !!! After that, IT WAS NUTS! IT WAS CRAZY! IT WAS INSANE! . . . . . AND UNTIL THIS DAY (and besides Lisa Marie Presley) . . . TOM MOFFATT IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT I KNOW OF (living or not) THAT NOT ONLY GOT TO MEET THE ONLY TRUE KINGS THE USA HAS EVER HAD, BUT WELCOMED THEM WITH THE “ALOHA SPIRIT” TO AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE U.S. THEY HAD NEVER BEEN BEFORE. AND AFTER THEIR INITIAL VISITS, THEY WOULD VISIT THESE ISLANDS AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS . . . . . THANKS TO “UNCLE” TOM MOFFATT !!!
